This is not a review of the documentary The Wolfpack. But I will say it’s excellent and you should see it. Seriously, go see it. But no, instead of reviewing it I’d like to pose a question inspired by the film.
First, a little context. If you don’t know, The Wolfpack is about a group of brothers who were raised in extreme isolation in NYC’s Lower East Side. Thankfully, they had each other. And films. Films became how they experienced the world. Film also became the way they dealt with boredom, and in a very big way, films were their creative outlet. They would re-enact whole films that they staged and shot in their tiny apartment. They made props and costumes out of whatever materials they had on hand (Batman’s suit was made from cardboard and yoga mats). They had favorites. Reservoir Dogs, The Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction.
So, here it is. You are living in isolation with a group of five other people, close friends, let's say. In order stave off boredom and exercise your creative muscles, which films would you re-enact?
