I know this would not have happened had they paid to see him perform at Joe’s Pub. I’m close to certain they wouldn’t have gone to see him at Joe’s Pub. But because it is FREE and OUTDOORS, this apparently gives people license to chatter away. Why do people think this? After many people around them gave them an assortment of scolding looks, they finally shut up. But only after 45 minutes. And they left shortly after that.
I suspect E.C. readers don’t need this message, but on the off-chance that you strayed here and are the kind of person that likes to go to free outdoor concerts with your friends and then talk to them the entire time, please, reconsider. If not for the people sitting near you who are there not to hear your annoying voice but to hear live music, then for the performer. I’m pretty sure Mr. Toussaint did not spend the last 50 years of his life writing songs so they could be background music for your inane conversation.
