In New York City it is now possible to purchase a ticket to The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess. You can also purchase a ticket to Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. But not Bruce Norris' Clybourne Park. Just Clybourne Park.
What's up with this trend (do two shows consistute a trend?) of shoehorning the authors' names into the titles of their shows?
"Excuse me, I'd like two tickets to Streetcar Named Desire please."
"Did you want those for Tennessee Williams' Streetcar? Or Joe Schmoe's Streetcar?"
I'm not sure what all this means but it strikes me as odd and somewhat disturbing, although I have to admit I'm not exactly sure why...
