So, my Dad's been in and out of the hospital. And it's been stressful, to say the least. On Saturday, even before the latest mini crisis unfolded, I was trying to put some finishing touches on BATVIA, the musical I've been collaborating on with Katherine Burger for, well... a long time. And as I sat in front of my keyboard, I found it incredibly difficult to stay focused.
This may seem really basic, but, I'd like to put a question to my fellow creative types.
How do you maintain your focus while dealing with personal stuff that's shaking the very foundation of your world? Do any of you have advice on this? I sort of feel like if a person is going to call him or herself a creative professional, then one ought to at least have a clue as to how to just focus. As needed. Regardless of what else is going on personally. Any advice would be most welcome.
P.S. Those of you in NYC, please keep an eye out for notice of our March 2nd showcase as part of EAT's Notes from a Page festival.
