Last night Resonance Ensemble's annual benefit featured a reading of Jonathan Tolins' wonderful new play, The Forgotten Woman. In his introductory remarks, the playwright joked that if his last play was any indication of the normal time btwn writing something and seeing it actually staged, we were all enjoying a sneak peek at a new play before its 2019 world premiere!
The play crackled. It was funny, charming, and actually about something. And, yet, it still hasn't been picked up for full production. And this is by no means unusual. This happens everywhere.
Sometimes I just wish I were a billionaire so I could financially spoil you all with lavish productions whenever you felt your next script was ready.
Until that time, what's a hopeless romantic to do? Blog about it, I suppose...
