JD Disalvatore is a gay rights activist and lesbian filmmaker. She produced the film Shelter which recently won the GLAAD Award for Outstanding Feature Film in Limited release as well as being named to AfterElton.com’s list of the 50 Greatest Gay Films of All Time at the #2 spot. She has also produced the LGBT films A Marine Story starring Dreya Weber (The Gymnast), Eating Out 2, Gay Propaganda, Elena Undone for director Nicole Conn, HBO’s Reunion and Neurotica.
In March, she was named one of the GO NYC Magazine’s 100 Lesbians We Love for 2009.
Her daily musings can be read at TheSmokingCocktail.com, her blog on all things LGBT entertainment and politics. Over the years, she has been a contributing writer on the subject of lgbt politics and lgbt film for Curve, GayWired, Clout, OurChart.com, TheDinah.com and is a frequent guest cohost on The Frank DeCaro Show on Sirius radio.
