Congratulations to Carol Lempert, writer and performer of That Dorothy Parker and her director (and E.C. pal) Janice Goldberg. Their show has been selected by this year's New York Int'l Fringe Festival for their Fringe Encore Series.
Here's a brief 411:
That Dorothy Parker is a one woman show that weaves together hilarious anecdotes of the 10 years Dorothy Parker spent lunching at New York's legendary Algonquin Round Table, her relationship with Hemingway, her involvement in the Spanish Civil war and selections of her writing. Carol Lempert plays a host of characters including Alexander Woollcott, Robert Benchley, Ernest Hemingway and George S Kaufman.
"Charming! Ms. Lempert gives a lovely, resonant performance as Parker, the acerbic critic, poet and general wit, and covers the peaks and valleys of her career and life."
—The New York Times"Carol Lempert's Parker is convincing, compelling and, of course, funny." **** (four stars)
